A Potential Donor

So...I've been struggling with whether or not to write a post on this and finally decided that I would.  A few things have transpired over the last month-ish or so concerning Blake and a potential donor.

Blake has a kidney buddy (Teddy), and I'm friends with his mom on facebook and we have also ran into them several times in Iowa City.  Teddy has been transplanted (yay!) for about a month and his donor was found pretty quickly.  His mom was kind enough to put something on facebook about Blake still needing a donor.

Next thing you know, I got a private message from someone.  Her name is Steph and she lives in the Iowa City area.  She submitted her paperwork for Teddy, but because a donor was found so quickly, she was never called in for testing.  Steph facebooked me and said she called Iowa City and had her information transferred to Blake!

Steph was a compatible blood type.  They then did the cross-matching and she passed that as well.  She had to do her urinalysis early and we received word on Friday that everything looked good!  So, August 27th she will have her "big" day of testing, just like what Aaron had to do.

When we were in Iowa City after Blake's catheter surgery, Steph came to visit Teddy and to meet us.  Things went well and I'm so glad we got the chance to talk in person!  Steph and I are constantly in contact and I feel like I'm getting to know her better everyday, which is funny to say since three months ago I didn't even know her. :)

I didn't know whether to share all of this information or not.  I don't want to get my hopes up again and then have them dashed.  But, then I remembered something that a friend of mine said when I was pregnant and we found about the severity of Blake's situation. She said, "If people don't know what's going on, how can they pray for you?"  I have never forgotten that.  So, if you could please pray for Steph and us on August 27th, we would sure appreciate it.

Praying that everything works out.

You know we are always praying for you, but this will give us a specific result to pray for and to ask our friends to pray for.
