Memorial Day Weekend

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend in State Center. Friday nite Frank and Linda made the trip from Sioux City. Saturday morning Frank, Linda, and Aaron headed down to Des Moines for Adam's graduation. The kids and I stayed back because two and a half hours of sitting for Brody seemed a little much! We drove down and met them for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (yum!).

Sunday Aaron did some work on the field and got Frank to help out for a few hours as well. We just kind of lounged around and didn't do anything too exciting. We played outside, went for walks, and just vegged out.

Monday was the baseball tournament in Gilbert. First games of the season! I know I say it a lot, but I just love baseball! The first game didn't go that great and the guys lost in 15-5 in 5 innings, but they rebounded for the second game and won 7-3. The kids did SO WELL at the tournament considering they had no naps, which is really tough for Brode. The poor kid was asleep before we left the parking lot! Here are some photos from our weekend and I'll try to post a couple more later.

What's been going on

Hello all! Just thought I'd give you a quick update on what's been happening at the Burdorf house.

1. BASEBALL! The season is officially underway and Aaron has been having practice for the past two and a half weeks. Two of his returning starters decided not to play this year (they were "burned out"), so Aaron is down to just three returning starters off of last season's squad. He has a lot of young talent, so the guys should get a lot of good experience. His first games will be on Memorial Day and we're very excited to start games.

2. Graduation frenzy! I have been swamped at work lately with all the last minute graduation stuff that people want for their open houses. It's amazing how much people procrastinate! However, I do enjoy designing different collages for people to display. Greg and I got a lot of compliments from people that saw our work and that makes me feel really good. :)

3. The kiddos! They are growing so fast I just can't believe it (yes, I know I say that a lot). Jenna is 3 going on 13. I'm amazed at how observant she is. The child notices every little thing and if something's not the way it usually is, she'll point it out. Brody is just crazy! I now see the differences in raising a boy and girl. Boys have NO FEAR! He is into everything - cupboards, bookcases, the toilet, up the stairs...you get the point. There's never a dull moment.

4. Upcoming weekend! Grandpa Frank and Grandma Linda are coming down to stay the weekend. Adam graduates from DMU on Saturday, so we're all headed to that and then Frank and Linda are going to stay for the baseball tournament on Monday.

I hope everyone enjoys the Memorial Day weekend!

Another Jenna funny

My 3-year old daughter is way too big and smart! The baby-sitter just said earlier this week how Jenna talks like she's an adult and she never feels like she is talking to a 3-year old.

The other night I hear Jenna yell at me and I asked her what was wrong and she goes, "OMG mom! I just spilled my juice on my pants!" OMG! How does she know what that means or when to use it appropriately in a sentence? When Aaron got home from baseball I told him the story and he thought it was hilarious, so Jenna just kept saying it over and over and over...

Beautiful weekend

Wow! What a beautiful weekend! We didn't have any big plans at our house, but it was just a nice relaxing weekend. The kids (especially Jenna) wanted to play outside all the time. I think we literally spent four hours outside on Saturday. We played in the yard, went to the library playground, went for a few walks, and went to the baseball field. That's where Aaron spent most of his day, up at the field getting it ready for the season.

Speaking of, it's officially baseball season as of yesterday! Aaron always says we have summer blood in us because we love baseball and softball. If that's true then we must have passed it onto our kids. They could run around the field for hours on end if we let them. That's good though, because we'll spend almost all of June at games. :)

Swimsuit Shopping

Jenna got some belated birthday money ("cash" as she called it) and wanted to use it to buy a swimsuit. So, we went shopping for one and me thinking it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Well, it was! I didn't think three year olds would be that hard to find a swimsuit for, but Jenna was.

She is tall and skinny, but bigger on the top than on the bottom. Another thing is, she's right on the fence between toddlers sizes and moving to the little girls stuff. So, we picked out a couple of swimsuits from both sections. They had some really cute two pieces and I was hoping one of those worked. We grabbed a 3T and the bottoms fell right off her (she has no butt!). I couldn't believe it. We had a little trouble with the one pieces because of her length too.

In the end we settled on a bright yellow spongebob one piece. She was so funny because she had to wear it as soon as we got home to "show papa." And, the next morning during bathtime she had to try it out in the tub! :)
