Busy work week

Work has been pretty busy for me this past week. We had prom this past weekend, which is always interesting. I only got annoyed when some of the seniors thought they got to budge to the front of the line because "they're seniors." Who cares? :) I sometimes forget about the whole upperclassmen thing.

Yesterday we headed out to the golf course for boys and girls golf pictures and that was sort of chaotic because it was pretty windy. Today we had middle school and high school track pictures and that was just a whirlwind of crazy!! We ended up taking four team shots and about 160 individual pictures. Greg (my boss) and I were both exhausted when we walked out of the gym.

Everytime we do pictures of junior high or high schoolers it makes me really appreciate the job my husband does and what he puts up with everyday! There is no way I could do it.

Lucked out

We had a TON of rain in State Center on Sunday. I think we got about four and a half inches from Saturday nite to Sunday nite. A lot of people had problems with their basements, but we were lucky and had no water. We're supposed to get more rain on Wednesday, so we're just keeping our fingers crossed that our sump pump can keep up!

Big news for Aaron

For some reason I forgot to mention a pretty big piece of news for Aaron. A couple of weeks ago he turned in his resignation for basketball. It was a tough decision for him and a lot of things factored into his decision, one of those being the amount of time he's at basketball and away from the family. The school board approved it at the last board meeting, "pending a suitable replacement," as they always like to say. I'm a little nervous he might have to coach next year, just because there are a lot of coaching positions open, but time will tell.

He's not going to be completely out of it because he does plan to get back into reffing basketball and he's talked about possibly doing volleyball and football just at the junior high level, so we'll have to see how this all pans out.

Doctor's Appointments

Yesterday I had to take the kids to Ames for their 1 and 3 year check-ups. Miss Jenna grew 4 1/2 inches this past year! With that growth it kept her in the 98th percentile for height, but she's still skinny minny and is only in the 77th percentile for weight. They also made her do a vision test where she had to identify an apple, house, or umbrella. She got them all right, so I'm hoping she has Aaron's eyes!

Brody is still growing like a weed. He grew 1 1/2 inches from the 9 month check-up and gained about three pounds. He is in the 95th percentile for height and 86th for weight. After three shots and lots of crying, he had to go and get his finger pricked at the lab. That didn't phase him a bit, he just stared at the nurse and looked kind of bored. :)

Dr. Nau was impressed that Brode is walking already since the bigger the kid the longer it usually takes them to walk. He also said they are both developmentally right on track and where they need to be, which is always nice to hear.

Our Easter

We had a low key Easter at our house. We went to church, made a nice Easter-like meal, had an Easter Egg Hunt, and that's about it! The Easter Egg Hunt was fun because Brody participated and Jenna was kind of an egg hog. :) Here are some pictures from Easter:

Brody's (scary) new feat

This morning I took Brody upstairs to get us both dressed. I grabbed his clothes and went to our bedroom and shut the door behind me. I was looking in the closet for literally about 5-7 seconds when the dog came up next to me. It took a second for me to realize that the dog didn't come in with us, so somebody must have opened the door. My immediate thought was: BRODY!!! I ran from the bedroom and saw him headed right for the stairs. We have really steep stairs and when I caught him he had taken one step onto the landing at the top and if I hadn't grabbed his arm he was headed all the way to the bottom.

Needless to say, my heart was beating out of my chest because the thought of what might have happened scared the crap out of me. I can't believe how fast he learned to open the door! In the future, I think Brode Man will definitely be staying on the main floor whenever possible!

Our next couple of days

First of all, sorry that I've been lacking on the blogging lately. It's not that I don't want to blog, it's just that we're really boring as of late. Once the summer and baseball roll around, life will get crazy again!

We are heading out today to Mankato. My grandma is still in the hospital and we haven't seen her, so we're going to spend some time with her. Also, my cousin Erin's softball team is playing at MN State on Friday, so we're going to catch her game as well.

Everybody seems to be going in different directions for Easter, so we're heading home on Saturday and will celebrate Easter by ourselves. That's okay though, it will be fun for the kids to wake up at home on Easter morning. Happy Easter!

Easter Egg Hunt...Sort of

I took Jenna to the Easter Egg Hunt that is held at the nursing home here in State Center today. She was very excited about going all day, but I was a little nervous because she does NOT like the "Rabbit" a.k.a. the Easter Bunny. Sure enough, we get there and she was clinging to me and wanted to be held.

I got her settled down until the part where they let you go and look for eggs. Jenna started crying and told me she wanted to go home. I was like, are you kidding me? I pointed out eggs to her and she wouldn't pick them up. In the end I put a whopping four eggs in her basket. She was all smiles when they handed out some "big prizes" at the end, she got a bunch of sidewalk chalk and didn't even care that she didn't get much candy.

Quick Surgery Update

Just a quick update about my dad. His surgery went well and the doctor said that everything went as expected and he did have a lot of tension in his back. He's doing pretty well, it's just a lot of work for him to roll onto his side or to sit up because he's pretty tender right now. The doctor is leaving it up to him whether he wants to go home today (Wednesday) or tomorrow. We'll see how he's doing this afternoon. Thanks for all the well wishes everybody wrote!
